So, uh, now that Merc's journal is totally almost user friendly (and that meaning users other than me), it's time for that special little post that says if you want to hang out with the big kids and join in all the big kids games and get all the big kids perks, you gotta be friends with the big kids.

I had two goals going into college. I wanted to graduate at least Magna Cum Laude. I also wanted to make it into Phi Beta Kappa. As of the 9th I will have achieved the latter.

That is right, I managed to make it into Phi Beta Kappa AS A JUNIOR. This is a BIG DEAL. Hell, even my e-mail and letter say as much:

"I am delighted to inform you that you have been elected to membership in
Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor
society. Students are elected on the basis of outstanding academic
achievements and high standards of personal conduct, and your election
as a junior identifies you as a truly outstanding member of the Wooster
student body."

"Because election as a junior is a significant honor, we hope that you can be
present this year."

DUDES! I DID IT! Tonight is DEFINITELY party time!

Having one of those writing days when I can't spell things right seriously, I just typed that as 'wrighty'.

Which got me to thinking... I have a few words that I just consistently get wrong, or a few things that I get confused on. So I wondered if other people would consider sharing what their common spelling mishaps are.

My Major Spelling Fuck Ups:
-Separate
-Permanent (had to use a dictionary)

Something That Throws Me Off:
-Figuring out if something ends in 'ence' or 'ance'

This year I'm participating in Relay for Life, and seriously so. I'm a team captain and trying my best to get some dough raised. So, anything you can spare is appreciated (and can you say, US citizens at least, Tax Deductible). Below is the cut and paste Relay Solicitation of Donation message, and below that the links, but here is why I think you should personally donate, and why I'm involved this year.

5. My father was diagnosed with Bladder cancer this year, as my mother's father was in the past (he also had lung cancer that would have killed him had it not been for the heart attack).
6. My mother at least (father being cut out because of the other things that will do him in) will probably, in the end, go because of lung cancer.
7. I can't think of a better cause.

Merc wants to do a RP post. This is just everyone I have an RP account for that I remember. The ones that fall int the 'haven't used in a while' area aren't firm in my head and I haven't toyed with them in long time, so select at your own risk. I warn you that some characters are far more... energetic than others and will cut happily into threads that don't involve them. (And some like to steal things...)

I woke up to a HORRIBLE day. Less than 7 hours of sleep when I like 8, knowing I'd have to do yard work and pay for movies and do more yard work and be all around miserable and waiting for that far off Sunday when I can feel the shade of the trees, the kiss of the sun, and see that beautiful thing that is my home: the College of Wooster.

But it didn't make sense. My sister had to do yard work too, why was I the only one up? Good news: no morning weeding, it was to hot. Bad news: apparently my father construed my not doing the dishes yesterday as a plot to screw over my sister. The sister I told when she got home that I was going to do the dishes in ten minutes and who told me it was okay because she'd do them. SERIOUS plotting on my part, right? She didn't do them and I got stuck being awoken early to do them for her. Fucking hell.

I was pissed off. (I loath doing dishes, did you know that?)

So finally they are done and I'm changing for movies and brushing my hair and there is a knock at the door. Yay, my younger brother's damn video game should be here so he can stop whining. Go get the mail, chat with the mailman, ponder the odd looking tube he holds in addition to the traditional package for video games. Take mail in side and distribute.

Thought process:
-Wait, the tube has my name on it.
-Wait, didn't Case say something last night about...
-Wait, the tube has a DA sticker on it.
-HOLY FUCK.

After trying out the verbosity thing my friend Case had for my normal LJ, I found sad results. I'm shorter than most blogger. Oh dear. I decided to see how it works out for my fic accounts.

LOL. I'm either a bad blogger, or a good one when it comes to fic.

A&E made a movie based on the amazing book, Andromeda Strain.

When they say 'based' they mean 'we took the concept of a killer contagion, some characters and locations, and a very small touch on the overall ending of the book, and then just made the rest of the shit up, throwing in worm holes, nanotech, environmentalism, and conspiracy theory.

It's a good watch, so long as you aren't looking for the actual book's actual plot.

Enjoy. I both recommend it, and say it was ill advised all at once.

Is it just me or is it suspicious when you go back to your room at 4 in the afternoon, the door is locked, and when you come in the curtains are all drawn and your one roomie and her boyfriend are together under the blankets with both obviously topless and him half on top of her? While watching reality TV?

Seriously, I'm going to post my schedule by her computer so she can time it better from now on. I hope she understands that I'm just trying not to walk in on awkward stuff.

And now since they are there I am in the Wired Scot (a place on campus with computers), just trying to pass the time. On a day where I had nothing to do really anyway. Relay for Life and all that taking up most of the normal Friday evening stuff.
